Gurudwara Manji Sahib, Kanech

Gurudwara Manji Sahib holds significant historical importance as a place where Guru Gobind Singh Ji briefly rested in December 1705, after leaving Machhiwara. Disguised as the Pir of Uchch and traveling in a palanquin carried by his devoted followers, the Guru was on his way to the interior of Malwa. Here, he sought to continue his journey on horseback, desiring to relieve his devotees. A local farmer named Fatta approached to pay homage and offered his services. When asked for a horse, Fatta initially brought a gaunt mare, which the Guru rejected, stating only his best horse would suffice. Fatta then made a false excuse that his best horse had been taken by his son-in-law. Guru Gobind Singh Ji, seeing through the deception, simply smiled and resumed his journey in the palanquin. Upon returning home, Fatta discovered his horse had died from a snakebite. This incident underscores the Guru’s divine foresight.

Gurpurabs of the first, fifth, and tenth Patshahis (Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Guru Arjan Dev Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji, respectively) are celebrated with great devotion at Gurudwara Manji Sahib. Additionally, the Shahidi Divas (martyrdom day) of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is solemnly observed here, attracting devotees from far and wide.
