Gurudwara Bhai Behlo Sahib

Gurudwara Bhai Behlo Sahib marks the birthplace of the revered Bhai Bahilon Ji, a devoted Sikh known for his exemplary dedication during the construction of Sri Harmandir Sahib in 1553 A.D. When Guru Arjan Dev Ji called upon the Sangat to contribute bricks for the sacred Sarovar Sahib, Bhai Bahilon Ji eagerly took up the task of making the highest quality bricks. In his quest, he travelled to various places to learn the best techniques. He was advised that certain natural materials, though unpleasant, could help strengthen and enhance the color of the bricks. With unwavering devotion, he collected these materials from wherever he could.

When the bricks were presented before Guru Arjan Dev Ji, those made by Bhai Bahilon Ji stood out for their rich red color and exceptional quality. Covered in dust and grime from his efforts, Bhai Bahilon Ji hesitated to come forward. Sensing his humility and dedication, Guru Ji embraced him and proclaimed, Bhai Bahilon sab ton pahilon — “Bhai Bahilon, you come before all.”

The Gurudwara commemorates important Sikh events, including the Prakash Purabs of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji, as well as the Shahidi Divas of Guru Arjan Dev Ji.
