Gurdwara Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Nauvin Patshahi – Chhota Mirzapur

Gurdwara Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Nauvin Patshahi – Chhota Mirzapur, a village in Mirzapur district, is midway between Ahraura and Benaras along the Varanasi-Robertsganj road. It is four kilometres north of Ahraura Road railway station. Guru Tegh Bahadur passed through it on his way from Ahraura to Benaras. According to local tradition, Guru Gobind Singh (then Sahibzada Gobind Das) also stayed here on his way from Patna Sahib to Punjab. The commemorative shrine here is named Gurdwara Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Nauvin Patshahi. Its present building covering a plinth area of about 28×21 metres was constructed during the 1980s. There is only one Sikh family natïve of the place, headed by Sardar Musa Singh, in Chhota Mirzapur itself, but donations from Sikh transporters passing along the road and from other Sikh and non-Sikh devotees including those at Benaras have helped the construction of the new building.
