Gurudwara Tutti Gandi Sahib, located in Muktsar, commemorates the martyrdom of the Forty Muktas, also known as the Liberated Ones, who sought forgiveness from Guru Gobind Singh Ji. During the siege of Anandpur Sahib, a group of Sikhs from the Majha region had abandoned the Guru. However, when they returned to their homes, they were condemned by everyone, including their womenfolk. But under the courageous guidance of Mai Bhago, they set out to find the Guru and beg for his forgiveness. Eventually, the group reached Khidrana Ki Dhab, where they were met with a fierce battle against the Mughal forces. Despite being outnumbered, they fought bravely until the last man, with only two survivors. Guru Gobind Singh Ji actively participated in the battle, shooting arrows from a small hillock to assist his Sikhs. After the Mughal forces retreated, Guru Ji went to the battlefield and blessed the martyrs.

The Guru tore the letter of renunciation that the Forty Muktas had signed, which had previously disowned him as their Guru. This act, known as Tutti Gandi (Broken Ties Retied), symbolized the Guru’s forgiveness and the restoration of the bond between him and his Sikhs. The Gurudwara stands as a powerful reminder of the sacrifice made by these brave men. Important events such as the birthdays of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and the Shahidi Purab of Guru Arjan Dev Ji are celebrated here. Additionally, the Magh Mela, held annually on the 12th and 13th of January, honors the Forty Muktas’ sacrifice, alongside celebrations for Diwali and Baisakhi. Shri Kalgidhar Niwas, with forty rooms, provides accommodation for devotees visiting the Gurudwara.
