Gurudwara Sri Nankana Sahib, Kashipur

Gurudwara Sri Nankana Sahib holds great significance as it is closely associated with Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Guru. He visited this place after traveling to Nanak Mata and Nanak Puri. During that time, the Dhela River caused annual floods that disrupted the city. As the locals were about to leave for safer areas, Guru Ji encouraged them to stay and remain patient. He then began singing kirtan on the riverside. While the kirtan was in progress, the river began to rise. Guru Ji performed the ardas and miraculously, the river receded, moving far away from the town. Since that day, the river has never flooded the city again.

Additionally, it is believed that the river was originally called Swaran River. However, after Guru Ji threw a clod (dhela) into the river, its name changed to Dhela River. Major gurpurabs celebrated here include the birthdays of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the martyrdom day of Guru Arjan Dev Ji and Baisakhi.
