Gurudwara Pipli Sahib Putlighar, Amritsar

Gurdwara Pipli Sahib is located on the road leading from Amritsar Railway Station to Cheharta, on the road from Chowk Putlighar to Abadi Islamabad market. This Gurudwara is made of two storeys. In the year 1581 AD, when Prithichand could not get Gurugaddi, he forcibly captured the Guru’s palace residence out of jealousy and anger. On this, Shri Guru Arjun Dev Ji, who passed through Shri Goindwal, Basarke, Chheharta Sahib etc., started living at this place. At that time there were peepal trees here. With the grace of Guru ji, Sangat and Pangat started flowing here. Arrangements for stay and langar etc. were made at this place for those who used to come from outside in the form of men and women to do kar seva of Shri Harmandir Sahib’s Amrit Sarovar. In 1586, Bhai Gurdas ji who was the maternal uncle of Guru Arjun Dev. When he returned after preaching in the areas of Agra etc. he took responsibility for the service of Shri Harmandir Sahib after discussing with Baba Budha ji and Baba Prithichand about the condition of his Guru’s family. Shri Guru Arjun Dev Ji again started living in the Guru’s palace. The seva of Sarovar and Sri Harmandir Sahib started in full swing as before. On May 22, 1606, when Guru Arjun Dev went to Lahore for martyrdom, a large number of Sangat left with Guru Ji, but all of them returned after obeying Guru Ji’s order at the place of Gurudwara Pipli Sahib. In June 1629, during the time of Shri Hargobind Sahib, there was a war between Mughal forces with Shah Jahan. In this war, the area of ​​Khalsa College, Gurudwara Pipli Sahib and Lohgarh turned into a battlefield. Guru ji got victory in this war. You opened the waist box at this place. In this battle, Rasool Khan of Lahore was killed by the brave warrior Bhai Bidhichand. Maharaja Ranjit Singh got a lot of land allotted in the name of this Gurudwara. The first car service to Amritsar Sarovar started on 27 June 1923.
