Gurudwara Nadaun Sahib Patshahi Dasvin

Gurudwara Nadaun Sahib Patshahi Dasvin is a significant historical and spiritual site located in Nadaun, Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. This Gurudwara commemorates the Second Battle of Guru Gobind Singh Ji against the Mughal forces in 1690, a pivotal event in Sikh history. At the request of Raja Bhim Chand of Bilaspur, Guru Gobind Singh Ji intervened to help the hill kings who were under the threat of Mughal commander Alif Khan, sent by the Mughal Empire to collect tribute from the hill states. Guru Ji, leading a united force of hill chiefs, faced Alif Khan in a decisive battle at Nadaun.

Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s forces were victorious, forcing Alif Khan to flee. To mark this triumph, Guru Ji shot an arrow of victory, and the site of the victory became known as Fatehpur, located just 5 km from Nadaun Sahib. Following the battle, Guru Ji stayed in Nadaun for 8 days, imparting teachings and meditating. After his stay, Guru Ji returned to Sri Anandpur Sahib on the 9th day.

This battle and Guru Ji’s involvement are also famously mentioned in the Bachittar Natak, a part of the Guru’s writings. The sacred spot where Guru Ji stayed was later transformed into the Gurdwara Nadaun Sahib Patshahi Dasvin. The present structure of the Gurudwara, with its simple yet elegant architecture, was built in 1929 by Rai Bahadur Wasakha Singh. In 1935, the administration of the Gurudwara was taken over by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
