Gurudwara Tibbi Sahib- Muktsar
Gurudwara Tibbi Sahib, situated on a small sandy hillock (tibbi) on the outskirts of Sri Muktsar Sahib, is historically associated with Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Tenth Sikh Guru. Guru Sahib chose this elevated spot during his stay in Muktsar as it offered a clear vantage point over the surrounding area. From here, he supported his Sikh warriors during the battle against the Mughal forces by shooting arrows and guiding them strategically, particularly during the legendary martyrdom of the Forty Muktas.
The Gurudwara stands as a powerful symbol of sacrifice and bravery. Important Sikh occasions such as the birthdays of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and the Shaheedi Purab of Guru Arjun Dev Ji, are celebrated here with devotion. The Magh Mela, held annually on 12th and 13th January, draws thousands of pilgrims who gather to honor the sacrifice of the Forty Liberated Ones. Festivals like Diwali and Baisakhi are also observed with great enthusiasm, making Gurudwara Tibbi Sahib a vital spiritual and historical site in Sikh heritage.
Gurudwara Tibbi Sahib is located on a sandy hillock along the Guru Harsahai–Muktsar bypass road, approximately 3 km from the center of Sri Muktsar Sahib and near Gurudwara Tuti Gandi Sahib. Here are several options to reach:
1. By Road: Muktsar is well-connected by road to major cities like Ludhiana, Bathinda and Amritsar. You can take state-run or private buses to Muktsar. From within the city, local auto-rickshaws or taxis are easily available to reach the Gurudwara.
2. By Train: e nearest railway station is Sri Muktsar Sahib Railway Station (MKS), located about 3 km from the Gurudwara. From the station, you can hire an auto-rickshaw or taxi to reach the site.
3. By Air: Bathinda Airport is the nearest domestic airport – Approx. 57 km away and the nearest internation airport is Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar – Approx. 180 km away. From the airport, you can take a taxi or bus to Muktsar and then a local auto or taxi to the Gurudwara.
