Manji Sahib Gurudwara
Gurdwara Manji Sahib is situated in Alamgir, Ludhiana. This place is located at a distance of 16 kilometres from Ludhiana Railway Station. Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji had come to this place in 1761 after passing through the jungles as a high priest. Three Singhs Bhai Daya Singh, Bhai Man Singh, Bhai Dharam Singh and two Muslims Bhai Nabi Khan, Bhai Gani Khan came here along with Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Two lions were carrying Guru ji on the bed. Two Muslim Sikhs were walking ahead, and Bhai Mansingh was serving Chavan. Guru Gobind Singh ji came here riding on a bed and stayed at this place. Guru ji asked the lions to drink water. A poor mother who was suffering from leprosy appeared, the Guru’s lions asked her about the water, the poor mother told that there is a well a little far away, but no one goes there, because a dangerous python snake lives in that well.
History of Gurdwara Manji Sahib
The Guru’s lions came back and told this to Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. Guru Gobind Singh ji took out an arrow and threw it into the well, the arrow hit the python and it died there. Due to which the water of that well got spoiled. The lions told Guru ji that all the water in the well had become spoiled due to the death of the dragon, and it was not drinkable.
Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji took out another arrow and hit it on the earth at the place where the holy lake is today. Due to which a fountain of water came out of the earth and today it is known as Bawan Sarovar. Which is called Tirsar Sahib.
Guru Gobind Singh ji and his lions quenched their thirst with that water and took a bath. When the poor mother saw this praise, that mother prayed to Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj to cure her leprosy. Guru ji said mother take bath in this water. Along with leprosy, all the sufferings of birth after birth will go away. Mai took a bath in that holy water and she became completely fine.
