Gurudwara Toka Sahib

Gurudwara Toka Sahib is a significant historical site connected to the journey of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. In October 1684, Guru Ji began his travels from Anandpur Sahib to Nahan after receiving a respectful invitation from Raja Medni Prakash. Accompanied by his family and many Sikh followers, Guru Ji passed through places like Kharar, Mani Majra, Ramgarh and Raipur Rani before reaching the village of Toka, situated on the border of the Nahan state.

At Toka, Raja Medni Prakash came with his ministers to greet Guru Sahib and took him to Nahan with great honor in a royal procession. Guru Ji remained in the area for almost three years, during which he founded the town of Paonta Sahib and later led the Sikhs to victory in the Battle of Bhangani.

While returning to Anandpur Sahib in October 1687, Guru Ji again stopped at Toka Sahib, passing through Sadhoura, Bir Majra, Raipur Rani and Nada Sahib. Altogether, Guru Gobind Singh Ji is believed to have spent 13 days at this sacred place during both his onward and return journeys, blessing the local devotees with his presence.

The Gurudwara stands as a tribute to Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s visits during his journeys to and from Nahan, offering a space for reflection and devotion. Nearby, there is also a sacred meditation site where Guru Ji is believed to have spent time in deep contemplation during his stay. Though separate from the main Gurudwara complex, this site remains an important spiritual landmark for visiting devotees.
