Gurudwara Thara Sahib, Sakhi Sarwar

Guru Nanak Dev Ji, during his travels, visited the town of Sakhi Sarwar after arriving from Dera Ismail Khan. The place where he halted came to be known as Thara Sahib. Sakhi Sarwar is situated about 400 kilometers from Lahore and is also referred to locally as “Nigaha.” The town can be reached by a metalled road from Dera Ghazi Khan and is served by a railway station, from where a semi-cobbled road leads into the settlement.

Thara Sahib is located within the compound of the tomb of Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar. According to Munshi Hukum Chand, the southwestern side of the compound was associated with Baba Nanak, while the eastern side contained other cells. This sacred spot lies between the mosque and the mazar (tomb). Although an annual fair is held at this location, no recitation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji takes place here.

As there are no clear signboards or markings, the exact location can be difficult to find. Visitors are advised to consult local residents or guides familiar with the area, though it should be noted that the site is not widely recognized even among locals.
