Gurudwara Shri Antaratma Sahib is located in Sultanpur Lodhi in the Kapurthala district of Punjab. This sacred place is associated with an important event from the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

According to tradition, some Muslims once asked Guru Nanak Dev Ji whether he was the Guru of Hindus or Muslims. Guru Ji replied that he belonged to everyone and treated all people equally. Hearing this, the Muslims invited him to join them in the mosque to offer Namaz. When the time for prayer came, everyone stood in prayer, but Guru Nanak Dev Ji remained standing quietly without participating.

After the Namaz was completed, the people angrily asked Guru Ji why he had not offered the prayer. Guru Nanak Dev Ji calmly replied that in reality they had not truly offered the prayer either, because their minds were elsewhere. The Nawab insisted that he had performed the Namaz, but Guru Ji explained that his mind was busy thinking about horses he wanted to bring from Kandahar. In the same way, the Maulvi was physically present in the mosque, yet his thoughts were at home worrying that his newborn calf might fall into a well.

Through this incident, Guru Nanak Dev Ji explained that true worship is not performed only with the body, but with complete devotion of the mind and soul.

After hearing these words, everyone bowed before Guru Nanak Dev Ji and accepted that he was a divine saint who understood the inner soul, which is why this place later became known as Gurudwara Shri Antaratma Sahib.
