Gurudwara Patshahi Nauvin Sahib - Bhikhi

Gurudwara Sahib Patshahi Nauvin in Bhikhi marks the sacred site where Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji halted for several days during his travels through the Malwa region, while coming from Samaon. At that time, a local chief named Desu, who was previously a devotee of Sakhi Sarvar, embraced Sikhism under Guru Ji’s influence. Deeply devoted, Desu served Guru Ji with great reverence. In recognition of his faith, Guru Ji blessed him with five arrows, instructing him to preserve them as sacred tokens and to remain steadfast in the Sikh path.

According to local tradition, shortly after Guru Ji’s departure, Desu’s wife, angered by her husband’s conversion, destroyed the arrows by breaking and burning them. This act is believed to have brought a curse upon Desu’s lineage. Tragically, both his son and grandson were later assassinated by enemies, leading to the end of his family line.

The Gurudwara commemorates this spiritually significant visit. Major annual events observed here include the Shahidi Divas (martyrdom day) of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and the Prakash Divas (birth anniversary) of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
