Gurudwara Shri Pamaur Sahib
Gurudwara Shri Pamaur Sahib, also known as Gurudwara Sahib Patshahi Nauvin, is situated in the village of Pamaur in District Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab. Located about 2 km from Chunni on the Morinda–Chunni road, this historical Gurudwara marks the site where Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji stayed during his journey towards Delhi to make the supreme sacrifice for religious freedom.
After departing from Anandpur Sahib, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji arrived at Pamaur and held a spiritual discourse with a local fakir named Fazan Shah. During this time, a devoted villager, Hasana Jat, approached Guru Ji and humbly requested him to bless his home. Guru Ji accepted the invitation and visited his residence, which was situated a short distance from the main village. The entire village, along with Hasana Jat, served Guru Ji with deep devotion and sincerity. Guru Ji blessed the people for their love and faith.
Upon leaving Pamaur, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji encountered a faqir who had renounced worldly life and was immersed in meditation. Guru Ji taught him that the highest spiritual path lies in living as a householder (grihasth) while remaining spiritually centered. Enlightened by this teaching, the faqir reunited with his family, and together they became disciples of Guru Ji. Guru Ji blessed the faqir, saying he would be reborn to serve this sacred place, and that Guru’s blessings would remain with him forever.
The Gurudwara commemorates Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s visit and spiritual teachings through annual celebrations. The Prakash Purabs of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji, along with the Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and Guru Arjan Dev Ji, are observed here with deep reverence and enthusiastic participation from the local sangat.
This sacred site, where Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is believed to have stayed for nearly ten days, stands as a shining symbol of Sikh history and values. It embodies the Guru’s message that true spiritual living lies not in renunciation, but in embracing the responsibilities of family life with devotion and righteousness.
