Gurudwara Lakhpat Sahib

Gurudwara Lakhpat Sahib, also known as Gurudwara Shri Nanak Darbar Sahib or Gurudwara Pehli Patshahi, is a revered Sikh shrine located in the historic town of Lakhpat in the Kutch district of Gujarat, India. This sacred site commemorates the visit of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru, during his fourth Udasi (missionary journey) between 1519 and 1521. Some traditions also associate it with his second Udasi (1506–1513). It is believed that Guru Nanak Dev Ji stayed here on his way to Mecca, leaving a deep spiritual imprint on the region.

The Gurudwara houses several relics associated with Guru Nanak Dev Ji, including his wooden footwear, a palkhi (cradle), ancient manuscripts, and markings attributed to two prominent Udasi leaders. Initially, the site was maintained by the Udasi sect, who held Guru Nanak in high regard. Later, the responsibility was taken over by the local Sikh community with support from Gurudwara Shri Guru Nanak Singh Sabha of Gandhidham.

Designated as a State Protected Monument (S-GJ-65) by the Gujarat State Archaeological Department, Gurudwara Lakhpat Sahib gained international recognition when it received the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award of Distinction in 2004 for its exemplary restoration and conservation following the devastating 2001 earthquake.
