Gurudwara Beed Baba Budha Sahib Ji

Gurudwara Bir Baba Budha Sahib Ji marks the sacred place where Baba Budha Ji lived, served and guided the Sikh community. Mughal Emperor Akbar was deeply impressed by Guru Amar Das Ji’s spiritual life when he visited Goindwal Sahib. Inspired by Guru Ji’s divine virtues, Akbar offered the land of village Jhabbal to Guru Amar Das Ji as a humble tribute. Guru Ji entrusted the care of this land to Baba Budha Ji. At that time the area was covered with a small forest, which led to the name Bir.

While living here, Baba Budha Ji took care of the cattle and the fields. Along with this, he also taught Gurbani, Gurmukhi and Sikh principles to the sangat. Due to his long stay, the place became known as Bir Baba Budha Ji. In 1594, Mata Ganga Ji visited Baba Budha Ji with missi roti as a humble offering. Baba Ji accepted it with grace and blessed her with a prayer for a child. Soon after, Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was born to Guru Arjan Dev Ji and Mata Ganga Ji.

After this sacred blessing, devotees began visiting this holy site to pray for their wishes, especially for the blessing of a child. Even today, the sangat visits the Gurudwara with deep faith and offers karah prasad in gratitude. In memory of Mata Ganga Ji’s visit, the annual fair is held on 20, 21 and 22 Assu. The monthly Sangrand is also observed with devotion.
