Gurudwara Bad Tirath Sahib
Gurudwara Bad Tirath Sahib in Haripura village, Fazilka district, is a sacred site associated with both Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Located near a historic water pool to the north of the village—an ancient pilgrimage site known as Bad Tirath—the Gurudwara holds deep spiritual significance.
During his First Udasi, Guru Nanak Dev Ji visited this place along with Bhai Bala and Bhai Mardana. At that time, the villagers were being terrorized by a demon (rakshasa). Upon hearing their plight, Guru Ji comforted them and assured them of relief. When the demon arrived while Guru Ji was still present, he bowed before the Guru and requested salvation. Guru Nanak Dev Ji blessed him, instructing him to serve the people and respect the holy place. The demon obeyed and never troubled the villagers again.
Later, Guru Gobind Singh Ji visited Bad Tirath Sahib on his journey to Nanded after the Battle of Muktsar. He blessed the site with five arrow tips, which are still preserved by the Namdhari community at Gurudwara Bhaini Sahib near Ludhiana.
While the Gurudwara is affiliated with the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), its day-to-day affairs are managed by a local committee. The birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is celebrated here with great devotion and enthusiasm. In addition, Amavasya (new moon day) is marked with special gatherings every month.
