Gurudwara Mata Sunder Kaur is a significant historical site dedicated to the memory of Mata Sunder Kaur Ji. This sacred place commemorates an important moment in Sikh history when Guru Gobind Singh Ji held a diwan (congregation) here. The Gurudwara is situated in Sector 70, Mohali, Punjab and is under the management of the Budha Dal Nihang Sikhs.

The history of this Gurudwara dates back to the visit of Mata Sahib Kaur Ji and Mata Sunder Kaur Ji, who arrived from Delhi after being separated from Guru Gobind Singh Ji during the evacuation of Anandpur Sahib and reunited at this sacred place with the Guru Ji. As soon as they arrived, Mata Sahib Kaur Ji, eagerly yearning for a glimpse of Mata Gujar Kaur Ji and the four Sahibzades, requested Guru Gobind Singh Ji. In response, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, with great wisdom, recited the following words:

“In Puttaran Ke Sees Pe War Diye Sut Char,

Char Mue To Kya Bhaya Ae Jeevat Kai Hazaar”

Meaning:

A sacrifice was made of four sons for these sons (devotees).

What harm is there if four died? Thousands are alive.

This powerful message reassured Mata Sahib Kaur Ji, affirming that the sacrifice of the four Sahibzades was not in vain, as the spirit of Khalsa continues to thrive in countless lives.
