It is believed that when Guru Ji arrived, he distributed til (sesame) as parshad to the gathered devotees, which led to the shrine being named Tilganji Sahib. The Gurdwara features a mosque-like entrance and a domed structure. A school now functions inside the premises, and the local Sikh Sangat has filed a legal case to reclaim full possession of the site.
