About 400 meters south of Sri Hazur Sahib, by the Godavari River, stands Gurdwara Nagina Ghat. A ruler from Delhi, Raja Gulab Singh Sethi, started building this Gurdwara, but it was his widow who completed the construction in 1968. Inside, the sacred Guru Granth Sahib is kept under a beautiful white marble palanquin, or Palki. There’s also a smaller room with a dome on the first floor, adding to the Gurdwara’s charm.

Legends states that, one day, Guru Gobind Singh Ji was looking at Godavari River flow with some of his Sikh followers. A wealthy merchant approached him, proudly offering a precious stone called a Nagina. In a surprising move, Guru Gobind Singh Ji casually threw the stone into the river. This upset the merchant, who felt sorry for the Guru, thinking he didn’t understand the stone’s value.

The Guru sensed the merchant’s thoughts and told him to fish the stone out of the river. To the merchant’s shock, he found that the river was now filled with countless sparkling gems. This sight left him in awe and filled with guilt, teaching him that material wealth is not as important as spiritual wisdom and humility.
