Gurudwara Badi Sangat - Varanasi

Gurudwara Badi Sangat in Varanasi stands as a revered historical shrine deeply connected with Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. He stayed here for 7 months and 13 days in the house of Bhai Kalyan Mal, which later became the site of this sacred Gurudwara. During his stay, a significant event occurred. On the occasion of an eclipse, Bhai Kalyan Mal requested Guru Ji to take a holy dip in the river Ganga. In response, Guru Ji explained that the Ganga was present here itself and asked him to lift a stone from the floor. As soon as the stone was removed, a stream of holy water gushed forth, and Guru Ji bathed in it. This miraculous spring, now known as Baoli Ganga Pargat, has been preserved to this day.

Besides this divine occurrence, the Gurudwara also safeguards several precious relics. Among them are a pair of shoes worn by Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji and another pair belonging to his young son, Gobind Rai (later Guru Gobind Singh Ji). It also preserves Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s Chola (robe) and 17 Hukumnamas (letters of command). These sacred artifacts make the Gurudwara not only a place of worship but also a treasured center of Sikh heritage and devotion.
