Gurudwara Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Patshahi Nauvin - Khiwa Kalan
Gurudwara Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Patshahi Nauvin – Khiwa Kalan is a revered historical site located in the village of Khiwa Kalan, Mansa district, Punjab. It stands on the sacred ground where Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji visited during his travels through the Malwa region. He arrived here from Bhupal and was warmly welcomed by a devoted Sikh named Sangha Ji.
Sangha Ji served Guru Sahib with great devotion. One day, he sought Guru Ji’s permission to briefly attend an engagement ceremony in his neighborhood to collect his share of sweets. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji gently told him there was no need to go, as from that day forward, two shares of sweets would always come to him. Trusting his Guru’s words, Sangha Ji remained by his side.
After the ceremony, when the local Chaudhary inquired why Sangha had not attended, he was told that Sangha had chosen to serve a saint who had arrived in the village. Some villagers remarked dismissively that Sangha always spent his time serving saints and fakirs who came to the village—even when there was often nothing to eat in return. But the Chaudhary responded with wisdom, saying that serving such spiritually enlightened souls was a virtuous deed. Deeply moved, he instructed one of his attendants to deliver two shares of sweets to Sangha Ji’s home. In that moment, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s words were fulfilled. From that day onwards, it became a tradition in the village—two shares of sweets were always sent to Sangha Ji’s home during any celebration or ceremony.
The Gurudwara commemorates this moment of divine grace and unwavering faith. Major Sikh festivals are observed with great devotion here, including the Prakash Purabs of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji, as well as the Shaheedi Divas of Guru Arjan Dev Ji and Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. These events draw large congregations of devotees every year.
